Emerald Ash Borer Fund

Our beautiful White Ash tree in the cemetery on South Street remains healthy. Our town's beautiful White Ash Tree

The $5,000 Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) fund was established in March 2019 by town warrant. Today, $4,239 remains in the fund.

As overseer of that fund, the East Kingston Conservation Commission continues to proactively treat the town’s beautiful ash tree in Union Cemetery on South Road every two years to prevent Emerald Ash Borer infestation and potential mortality. These preventative trunk injection treatments were done in 2021 and 2023, for a total cost of $761.

Fortunately, the tree remains healthy, with no sign of the invasive pest; i.e., no crown die-back or bark “blonding” from woodpeckers feeding on the EAB larvae.
