Update to the investigation by NHDES and BRC

Due to current events with the ongoing investigations into the BRC, the following steps have been undertaken by the NHDES for those effected.

Josh Whipple is reaching out directly to the impacted home owners to convey the following:

Bottled water will continue to be delivered under the State’s contract with Monadnock.

DES has activated our contractor to install point of entry treatment into the homes identified with water contamination above the standards that will come into effect on 30 September.

That contractor, Weston Solutions, will be getting a specialist under contract to get that work completed. Weston should begin scheduling appointments with homeowners for system evaluations the week of September 16th.

The contractor they hire will need access to the homes to:

a. Test the water for a more complete panel.

b. Examine the space available, plumbing and power arrangements within the homes.

Weston will then propose a treatment system to DES for each of the homes.

Once the designs are approved, Weston will arrange with the home owners a time to install the systems.

a. A second confirmation water test will be taken at the time of installation.

Until the confirmation test shows the treatment system is working in an individual’s home, DES will continue to fund bottled water deliveries.

a. Once confirmation is received, bottled water deliveries will be ceased.

This work is being funded by DES, but cost recovery from Biological Recycling Company will be attempted for all of the costs associated with this effort.
