Purpose: The Solid Waste & Recycling Committee was formed in the spring of 2009 to assist the Board of Selectmen in selecting a vendor for our waste and recycling products. The committee performs research on Solid Waste & Recycling and interviews prospective vendors. It will report its findings and a recommendation to the Selectmen. Waste Managtement was selected as our service provider for trash and recycle removal.

Membership: Membership of the continuation Committee includes the following:

Rob Caron, Chair
Duncan Macleod, Vice Chair
Dan Guilmette
Ron Morales
Teresa Pendell

General Information:

Our contract with Waste Management allows the Town to receive recycle profits in order to contain costs. While saving costs, one of the committee’s objectives is to also develop a process for waste and recycling making it easier to manage for each individual residence in East Kingston.

We incurred a delay due to the 64 gal Gray totes from the manufacturer to WM. We apologize for the 1 month delay and the implementation is set for May 3rd.

Great News - Town's First !

Single Stream (Zero Sort) Recycling: Pick up and removal cost are $42.50 a ton and based against the # 6 newsprint recycle market. In March we recycled over 28 Tons and the # 6 newsprint was valued at $45.00 so we gained a $2.50 profit/credit to our removal costs !

With the complete implementation target of May 3rd it will only increase.

We are offering the "Bagster" Program for your construction and major home cleaning and improvements. You can purchase the bags at the Town Office.

For more information please see your newsletter or stop by the Town Office.
